Jesus, would you come play with me?

•December 6, 2007 • 3 Comments

Jason Upton tells the story of a song he wrote with his little son Samuel.

- Daddy I want to write a song about Jesus.

- What do you want to say to Jesus?

- I want to say “hey Jesus”.

So I wrote down “hey Jesus”.

- What are you gonna say after Hey Jesus?

He said:

- Are you still on the cross or are you feeling better? And if you’re feeling better, would you come down and play with me?

So I tried singing “Won’t you come down, down, down, down to the ground.”

- Yeah, daddy, I like that.

And he added saying:

- Down to the next to me place.

(Song “Into the sky”, Jason and Samuel Upton, CD “Between Earth and Sky“)

This story completely killed me. It’s amazing to see the heart of a child and what they have to say to Jesus!

And I couldn’t stop myself from picturing our future little kids writing songs with Dan, sitting on the couch and coming up with amazing lines of love and worship to the Lord!

“From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise.” Matt 21:16

I’ve Had the Runs Since June (Jun-Aug 07)

•November 30, 2007 • 2 Comments

Well, not really.

I’ve actually been keeping track of my running since June 2007, which was when I bought a Garmin Forerunner 101 GPS watch (which is a sweet deal for $100 at REI or Target). Now that my friend Rob and I are beginning to talk about doing the Colfax Marathon in May, I’m going to start recording my runs (of the fitness type) on our blog here.

So, to catch up to present, here are my runs and totals since June…

Happy Birthday Baby!!

•November 20, 2007 • 3 Comments

Today is my wonderful, beautiful wife’s 24th birthday!!

new-haircut-3.jpg

I’ve never known anyone so lovely, baby. You are more than I ever dreamed of. God has blessed me beyond my imagination!

You seek God with all your heart. You worship Him, listen to Him, obey Him.

You are a truth-teller – a rare find in our day.

You hold my confidence in a tight grasp. I trust you completely.

You make my heart beat really fast when you walk into the room! Your eyes seduce me and your beauty leaves me wanting for air.

You make me laugh until tears roll down my cheeks! You have a wonderfully light heart.

You always listen when I talk. You wait for me to think, to process, to share my thoughts and feelings. You are more patient than a stopped clock.

You are a very gifted and creative thinker. You imagine wonderful things. God uses your vision to cast light on those around you.

You are clearly an A-student.

You make life so much fun to live! I love playing with you and adventuring with you. I feel such freedom from you to explore, to create, to dream.

You are wise beyond your years. You teach me new things every day. God showers revelation onto my heart through your words and understanding.

I love you.

And I want to spend the rest of my life learning to love you like Jesus loved the Church.

PARABENS, LINDONA!!!!!!! :)

You Hold My Life – new song

•November 11, 2007 • 1 Comment

I wrote a new song this past week based on the sermon of my good friend Rob, which in turn is based on Malachi 3:2-3. We did it this past weekend in services at Northern Hills, both in the River and WhiteWater. I hope it’s a blessing to you!
